Geelong Mums is made up of five local mums who in April this year launched a branch of St Kilda Mums here in Geelong. Geelong Mums collect children’s equipment and clothing to help mums who are doing it tough. Geelong Mums wants to ensure that no child in our community goes without the most basic material items, like a safe cot to sleep in.
Geelong Mums is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organization. They collect donations of recycled cots, prams, bassinets, clothes and other baby essentials such as clothing, books and toys. These all need to meet safety requirements before they are passed on and Geelong Mums volunteers are trained to ensure they are all up to standard. The group partners with local social service agencies and case workers to distribute the donated goods to families in our community who need it most. It’s really easy to help out. So many of us have stuff stored away that we don’t need any more. Just pull it out, check that it is clean, safe and in good condition.

The location for dropping off donations is the home of one of the volunteers so it isn’t published publically. The group has a Facebook page so go ahead and LIKE it. They put a post up when they’re doing another collection day and you can then send an email to find out the location and times. There are regular collection days in the various suburbs of Geelong.
